Don Sphynx
A Russian breed also known as Donskoy or Don Hairless, with variable degrees of hairlessness. It is distinct from the Canadian-origin Sphynx and from the more slender Peterbald despite the shared interest in reduced coats.
Appearance & size
The body is medium-sized, strong and muscular, with a comparatively substantial outline. A wedge-like head, large ears and almond-shaped eyes accompany visible skin folds.
Coat
Some cats are born bald, while others have fine flocked or velour-like hair that may diminish; a brush form can retain coarser hair.
Typical behavior
Some individuals are active companions that stay involved with family life.
Activity
Provide interactive toys, safe exploration and warm places to rest between play. The reduced coat changes environmental planning, not the need for normal opportunities to move and investigate.
Care
Hairlessness does not remove grooming needs. Protect the cat from unsuitable cold or excessive sun and seek individual advice for persistent skin changes.

Egyptian Mau
A naturally spotted domestic breed with an athletic body and distinctive green adult eyes. Its ancient-Egyptian imagery is culturally appealing, but visual resemblance to historical cats should be distinguished from a documented modern pedigree.
Appearance & size
The body is medium-sized, muscular and balanced between stocky and extremely slender types. Hind legs are longer than forelegs, and a loose skin fold along the flank is part of the description.
Coat
Spots vary in size and shape over the body, with associated facial and leg markings.
Typical behavior
Intelligence, strong attachments and lively involvement with people.
Activity
Provide hunting-style play and room for comfortable movement. Secure observation places and gradual introduction of new toys allow an individual to investigate without being forced into an unfamiliar activity.
Care
Regular light grooming helps monitor the short coat and remove loose hair. Exact bathing or brushing frequency should follow the individual rather than a visual pattern.

European
The pedigreed European Shorthair, called European in the pedigree scope, resembles traditional European domestic cats without being interchangeable with every non-pedigreed shorthair found in Europe.
Appearance & size
A medium-sized, muscular and balanced cat with rounded facial contours, developed cheekbones and moderate ears. Its outline avoids the exaggeratedly long, slender form of an Oriental and the especially cobby British outline.
Coat
The short coat is dense and glossy. Natural-looking colors and patterns belong to its identity; the breed should not be reduced to a single tabby pattern.
Typical behavior
Individual confidence, handling history and opportunities to retreat still shape household compatibility.
Activity
Plan a normal variety of chasing, climbing, scratching and observation opportunities around the individual’s preferences. A natural-looking cat can still need considerable engagement and social contact.
Care
A short coat makes basic coat inspection and gentle removal of loose hair straightforward.

European Burmese
Shared foundation ancestry is explicit, but it is not treated as a duplicate name in this scope.
Appearance & size
Head contours are gently rounded and moderate rather than simply copied from the compact American-type standard.
Coat
The short, fine coat lies close to the body. Ten colors, including brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream and related tortoiseshell combinations.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are intelligent, affectionate and interactive cats that often follow people between rooms.
Activity
Enrichment should include opportunities to investigate without requiring the animal to stay constantly active. A socially engaged individual can enjoy quiet contact as much as vigorous games.
Care
The short coat generally reduces the workload associated with longhair grooming, but regular observation and gentle removal of loose hair remain useful. Household planning should include the likely demand for company, not just the low visual complexity of the coat.

Exotic
A Persian-type cat best known for its dense shorter coat and rounded face.
Appearance & size
The body is compact and substantial, with short strong limbs, a rounded head and large round eyes. The muzzle is shortened, making facial structure an important welfare consideration as well as an exhibition feature.
Coat
The familiar short coat is dense and plush, with Persian-related colors and patterns. Longer-coated members can occur in related breeding populations.
Typical behavior
Sweet, affectionate and relatively quiet cats, often with a more playful element than the stereotype attached to Persians.
Activity
Provide accessible play and comfortable observation places rather than equating a compact body with inactivity. Use the cat’s comfort and enthusiasm to guide games.
Care
The dense short coat still needs maintenance and can shed noticeably. Shorter hair does not remove the need to attend to facial cleanliness and eye comfort.

German Rex
A medium-sized German breed with a short, soft waved coat.
Appearance & size
The breed has a rounded head with developed cheeks, medium-large ears and a balanced medium-sized body. Legs are relatively fine and moderate in length.
Coat
The short coat is waved across the body and lacks guard hairs, giving the surface a velvety feel. Density can vary, so the description should not promise identical coverage in every cat.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are affectionate, lively and people-oriented companions.
Activity
Interactive toys and opportunities to explore suit a lively cat, with warm and comfortable resting options between sessions. Household safety matters for a curious individual.
Care
Treat the soft waved coat gently and avoid assuming it needs the heavy grooming used for a dense longhair. Reduced guard-hair protection makes environmental comfort relevant.

Havana Brown
A short-coated brown cat with green eyes and a distinctive muzzle.
Appearance & size
A medium-sized, muscular cat more substantial than the particularly slender modern Siamese. The head is longer than wide, with pronounced whisker pads and a clear transition toward a rounded muzzle.
Coat
The short coat is a rich warm brown with a glossy surface; even the whiskers can be brown. Brown is central to the recognized appearance, but a chocolate-colored household cat cannot be identified as a Havana Brown on coat color alone.
Typical behavior
Curiosity, intelligence and a habit of using the paws to investigate or request attention.
Activity
Interactive games and opportunities to observe household activities can suit the breed’s interested but not necessarily intrusive manner. Let the cat approach unfamiliar objects voluntarily.
Care
Soft brushing removes loose hair from the short silky coat. Routine bathing is not automatically necessary for every pet.

Japanese Bobtail
An agile domestic breed with a short, individually shaped tail often resembling a pompom. Short and long coat forms occur within the family.
Appearance & size
The breed is medium-sized, relatively slender and muscular, with long limbs, upright ears and a triangular head. The tail’s curves and bends can create a compact outline that does not reflect the full length of the vertebrae.
Coat
Short and long coats, with numerous colors and patterns. Mi-ke refers to the familiar tricolor or calico appearance, not to every Japanese Bobtail.
Typical behavior
Some individuals readily learn games or respond to training.
Activity
Provide varied interactive toys and room for agile movement. Retrieval, hunting games and reward-based activities can appeal to the breed’s described problem-solving style.
Care
The relatively light undercoat generally simplifies maintenance. For everyday care, consider periodic combing for the short coat and more attention for the longer form.

Khao Manee
A white, short-coated Thai breed known for bright eyes that may be matching or different colors.
Appearance & size
The body is medium in length, muscular and flexible rather than heavy and cobby. A moderately wedge-shaped head with developed cheekbones and proportionate ears accompanies the luminous eyes.
Coat
The short coat is solid white.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are active, curious and socially interested companions that may enjoy carrying toys, retrieval or joining household routines.
Activity
Offer shared hunting games, safe exploration and opportunities for the cat to choose social contact. A friendly reputation does not make an individual immune to stress from abrupt changes.
Care
Seek individual advice when concerns about hearing or other changes arise rather than judging from eye color alone.

Korat
A silver-tipped blue Thai breed with a heart-shaped face and green adult eyes.
Appearance & size
The body is medium-sized, muscular and deceptively substantial. Facial contours, cheekbones, forehead and tapered muzzle produce the familiar heart-shaped impression.
Coat
The short fine coat is blue-gray with silver tipping, creating a bright surface effect. A single coat with relatively light shedding.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are intelligent, attentive and people-bonded cats that can be expressive when they want something.
Activity
Keep activities responsive to interest rather than measuring intelligence by whether a cat performs on request. New people and animals should be introduced with time for the individual to observe and adjust.
Care
For everyday care, consider weekly brushing for the fine single coat. Consider both coat maintenance and social needs when planning daily care.

Kurilean Bobtail
A substantial short-tailed breed family associated with the Kuril Islands and nearby Russian regions.
Appearance & size
The body is medium to large, compact and muscular, with hind legs longer than forelegs and a slightly arched back. A broad, trapezoid-like face accompanies the substantial outline.
Coat
Both short and longer coat lengths occur in the family. Longer hair makes the tail appear particularly fluffy, but coat length does not change the underlying short-tail identity.
Activity
Hunting-style games, climbing and problem-solving activities can reflect the described background without requiring outdoor hunting. If an individual investigates water, supervise access and let it choose participation.
Care
Coat maintenance should be adapted to the short or long form, with inspection of longer furnishings for tangles. Handle the tail gently and avoid assuming its compact external length reflects its internal shape.

LaPerm
A curly-coated domestic breed whose coat can range from loose waves to tighter ringlets. Short and long coat forms occur within the family.
Appearance & size
The body is medium-sized and moderate rather than extremely cobby or slender. A softly contoured wedge-shaped head, expressive almond-shaped eyes and proportionate ears complete the outline.
Coat
Curls vary across the body and can be especially evident around the throat and ears. Longhairs may develop fuller ruffs and plumed tails; shorthairs often have a crisper feel and bottle-brush-like tail.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are affectionate, inquisitive cats that often seek close contact while retaining interest in play.
Activity
Offer hunting games and reward-based activities while leaving quiet contact available. The farm-cat background explains an interest in pursuit, but does not make unsupervised outdoor hunting necessary.
Care
Use gentle combing to remove loose hair without pulling healthy curls. Preserve the natural texture rather than trying to force the coat flat.

Lykoi
A partially hairless domestic breed with a distinctive mixture of white and colored hairs called roaning. Its werewolf nickname describes appearance, not temperament, wild ancestry or a connection with a mythical animal.
Appearance & size
The body is lean and muscular, with large eyes, tall ears and a developed chin. Reduced facial hair accentuates the eyes and muzzle.
Coat
The coat combines pigmented and white hairs and lacks a conventional undercoat. Coverage can fluctuate from relatively full to quite sparse as the coat cycles.
Typical behavior
Many are curious, active and interested in hunting-style play, while initial confidence in unfamiliar situations varies.
Activity
Hunting-style play and safe exploration can channel curiosity. Give a cautious individual time to become familiar with new surroundings.
Care
Use light gentle grooming and observe oily or sparsely coated skin. Occasional washing may be useful, with attention adjusted to the individual.

Maine Coon
A large, shaggy-coated North American breed with a square muzzle and long plumed tail.
Appearance & size
The body is long and substantial, with muscular limbs and large furnished ears. Slow maturation and sex differences mean that no single visual size defines every adult.
Coat
The coat is shorter around the shoulders and longer on the sides, underside and rear, finishing in a prominent tail plume. Numerous colors and patterns occur.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are sociable, intelligent and relatively easygoing cats that may remain interested in toys, water and family routines.
Activity
Provide sturdy climbing places, appropriately sized resting spaces and interactive hunting games. Size does not eliminate the need for play, and a large frame should not be confused with excessive body condition.
Care
For everyday care, consider combing several times weekly to manage loose hair and help prevent tangles. Longer belly and rear furnishings deserve attention.

Manx
A rounded, substantial breed from the Isle of Man, best known for shortened or absent tails. Longhaired members of the same family may be called Cymric by registries that give the coat form a separate identity.
Appearance & size
The body is short-backed and deep, with a rounded head and hindquarters and hind legs longer than the forelegs.
Coat
Both are dense, while longer furnishings change the silhouette and maintenance.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are affectionate, intelligent companions that may attach particularly closely to one or two people.
Activity
Offer interactive play that follows the individual’s mobility and enthusiasm. Comfortable access to resting places matters more than a stereotyped exercise quota.
Care
For everyday care, consider regular grooming, with more attention to longhair friction areas where tangles begin. Discuss family history and any mobility or continence concerns.

Neva Masquerade
A blue-eyed colorpoint relative of the Siberian, recognized separately as Neva Masquerade in the pedigree scope. Other registries place the same family relationship within Siberian, so both the distinction and the connection remain visible.
Appearance & size
A medium to large, strong muscular cat with rounded contours, broad chest, substantial legs and rounded paws. The head and cheekbones are well developed.
Coat
The semilong coat is dense, with an outer layer and seasonal undercoat. Winter furnishings can include a pronounced neck frill and fuller rear-leg hair, while the summer outline may be less voluminous.
Typical behavior
Many individuals are affectionate, curious and people-interested cats, commonly playful and involved in family routines.
Activity
Offer sturdy climbing options and interactive games suited to a substantial but agile individual. A winter coat can conceal the body outline, so apparent bulk should not determine the activity plan.
Care
Seasonal coat changes make regular inspection and combing practical considerations, especially in dense furnishings. The Siberian relationship does not justify a guarantee that Neva Masquerades are allergy-safe.

Norwegian Forest Cat
A sturdy Nordic longhair with a dense double coat, triangular head and straight facial profile. Its large forest-cat appearance remains distinct from the Maine Coon and Siberian.
Appearance & size
A substantial, muscular body has a triangular head, large furnished ears, tufted paws and a bushy tail.
Coat
A water-repellent outer coat covers a dense insulating undercoat. Neck and chest furnishings can be conspicuous, especially in winter.
Typical behavior
An intelligent, independent but socially involved cat that may choose its own timing for lap contact.
Activity
Provide sturdy climbing structures, observation places and hunting-style games. A forest-associated name does not make unrestricted outdoor access necessary.
Care
For everyday care, consider regular combing and more attention when the heavy winter coat is shed. Some textures tangle more readily than others.

Ocicat
A spotted domestic breed with an ocelot-like appearance but no ocelot ancestry. Its striking pattern arose through domestic pedigree breeding, distinguishing its history from that of Bengals developed with Asian leopard cat ancestry.
Appearance & size
A medium to large muscular cat that can feel heavy for its apparent size. The head is a modified wedge with a broad developed muzzle.
Coat
The short coat carries clearly defined spots over a lighter background. Several color families, including dilute and silver versions.
Typical behavior
Sociability, responsiveness to people and interest in learning games.
Activity
Shared play and reward-based problem solving suit the described engagement with people. Offer variety and opportunities to stalk and chase without requiring outdoor hunting.
Care
Light brushing or gentle cloth grooming removes loose hair from the short coat. Routine bathing is not automatically necessary.
